Visible spaces between crescents do not prove that the glass will hold more beverage than it would with cubes of a different size or mass.

Does Crescent Ice Melt Faster or Dilute More Than Cubes?
Neither shape has a universal melting or dilution advantage.
A crescent's curve alone does not establish that it melts more slowly---or more quickly---than cube ice. Melt behavior depends on several connected conditions:

To compare crescent and cube ice fairly, the ice quantity, piece size, starting condition, drink volume, glass, and movement need to be matched.
